16 July 2010
The new indoor arena at Coverwell Farm has now been
completed. This is so exciting. We will be moving the week
commencing 26 July 2010, first the horses will be going and we will then be
moving house at the end of the week. The Ilan Rosenberg clinic will be
taking place there on 7 and 8 August 2010. For those of you attending
the address is Coverwell Farm, Pillerton Hersey, Warwickshire, CV35 0QA
09 July 2010
We now have a date for our move, it will be week commencing
26 July 2010. So much to do in so little time! We will continue to
do the best we can for the horses we have in training and livery with us and
to ensure that our clients receive the best service that we can possibly
deliver. We only ask that you think of what we will soon have, a
fantastic indoor arena, outdoor arena, great off road riding and a brand new
stable block. We will be able to give an even better service to
everyone.
We still have spaces on the Ilan Rosenberg clinic 7 and 8
August 2010. We will be having a lamb on a spit on the Saturday night,
we would love to see as many people as possible, it will be a great weekend.
Please join us. For more details, please do not hesitate to contact me.
09 June 2010
At last we have got our planning permission for our indoor
arena. Permission was granted last Wednesday 2 June 2010. This is
a fantastic opportunity for us that will mean that we can train and work all
year round. As yet no dates have been confirmed for the move but it will
be by the end of July. Go to our New Facilities page to get updates and
pictures of the development.
The Ilan Rosenberg clinic has been changed to Saturday 7th
and Sunday 8th August 2010. Please contact me to book your space as soon
as possible so as not to miss out.
01 June 2010
Congratulations to Fiona Stringer for attending her first
show of the season and doing very well. See our results page for
details. Fiona attended the SQH Challenge Show on Sunday 30 May 2010
with her mare Snippers Smart Jewel.
Shane attended the Spring East Coast Quarter Horse Circuit
Show at Bodiam over the weekend. He took Freckles Dun Chic, owned by Jo
Wilde and Bat Aviv, owned by Henrietta Campbell. Both horses are new to
Shane and their owners and so the show was a very successful outing. A
great start to the 2010 season.
There are still places available on the Ilan Rosenberg
clinic. This is a fantastic opportunity to come and ride with and get
instruction from Ilan. Please
contact us for details.
23 April 2010
Congratulations to Shane and SES Smart Star, they today
posted the required score to qualify for The World Equestrian Games taking
place in Kentucky USA in September 2010.

Over 600 hits a month to our Horses For Sale page, to
advertise your horse with us, contact us.
Saturday 17 April 2010, BQH held a small but effective
clinic. It was unfortunate that half our potential delegates were either
stuck in Europe or their horses were stuck, due to the Icelandic volcano.
We had a great day nevertheless and the weather was glorious. I would
like to thank all those who attended and we look forward to seeing you again
soon. I will be posting dates as soon as possible for further clinics,
either with Shane or Ilan Rosenberg, who I hope to get over soon. Watch
this space for details.
We have a number of horses for sale on our site ranging from
the show horse to the great hack, all of which are great horses to own, so if
you are looking to buy, please take a look at our
Horses for Sale page.
If we don't have anything on there that you think would suit you, please do
not hesitate to contact us and we may be able to help.
17 March 2010
Your Horse Magazine came to Borland Quarter Horses yesterday
to carry out an interview with Shane on the basics of horse ownership.
Sons Royal Chic (Chic) performed brilliantly for the camera and was very well
behaved. The topics covered were, leading, tying up and general safety
tips around the horse. Look out for the April issue of Your Horse.
01 March 2010

20 February 2010
Shane attended the Andrea Fappani Clinic in Germany this
month. He left the UK 25 January 2010 to spend some time with Ilan
Rosenberg, he took Jo Wilde's Freckles Dun Chic (Saar) with him. The
first clinic started on Tuesday 9 February to Thursday 11 February and the
second clinic started Friday 12 February to Sunday 14 February. Shane
was fortunate enough to watch the first 3 days and he took part in the second
clinic. A fantastic opportunity, that couldn't have been missed.
Vix and Sammi joined Shane for the weekend. The weather was unbelievably
cold, there was a lot of snow, but thanks to the outdoor heaters, it was
bearable. Sammi was fortunate enough to be able to meet and spend time
with Ilan and Niki Roshenberg's daughter Zoher which meant that she didn't
have to sit through the entire clinic.
A huge thank you to Ilan and Niki for the time that Shane
and Saar have spent out in Germany and for giving Shane the opportunity to
spend as much time as he did with Andrea, who was a great clinician and a
really nice person.
We are soon to hold our clinic on Sunday 28 February.
Until we get the five day weather forecast, I can't be sure that this clinic
will be going ahead, but all fingers are crossed! We will be arranging
more clinics, dates of which will be released soon.
27 January 2010
Goodness me, where has January gone? We made it
through the ice and the snow, just and I think we are coming out the other
end!! I am now planning clinic dates, the show season is rapidly
approaching, it is time to get prepared! Please see our clinics page for
details. We are very much at the mercy of the weather as usual but I
will be arranging the dates in the hope that all should be well!
30 December 2009
HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!! Apologies for the delay! I
don't have an excuse!
We have been holding some mini clinics at Moreton Morrell

well. We have another one arranged for Sunday morning. If you
would like more information on our clinics, please do not hesitate to contact
us.
The show season starts soon, can you believe it. Lets

We now have a horse to give lessons on. Sons Royal

recently by Vix. He is a good safe ride who we are happy to share with
anyone, from beginners to more advanced riders. For more information,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
I hope you all have a great New Year. Please look out
for our clinic dates, we hope to be also arranging for Ilan Rosenberg and
other clinicians to come over. Best wishes for 2010!!
10 December 2009
We have one more clinic taking place on Sunday 13 December
at Moreton Morrell, our last MM Clinic was very successful and well attended,
it was great to see so many people on such a cold day! Moreton Morrell
is a great venue and we will be holding small clinics there over the Christmas
period. Keep an eye out for dates if you would like to join us.
22 November 2009
We have now updated our Horses for Sale page with some great
horses that have recently become available.
Vix has now started a new venture, selling Aloe Vera
products that are very well known for being a great supplement and healing aid
for horses and humans. I have launched a new website
www.equinealoe.co.uk . If you would like to know more, please
do not hesitate to contact me. We are also distributors for
Professionals Choice Products. In addition to this, we are working
closely with someone to make our own rug racks, saddle racks, saddle blanket
and boot dryers, these items are available to anyone who would like them, a

information, please do not hesitate to contact me at

19 October 2009
Usually things slow down after the season but not this year.
We have a number of two year olds in for starting which is fantastic. We
have Ron and Ruth O'Reilly with us now, who have a number of horses for sale
that Shane will be working on over the winter.
Clinics dates are coming in thick and fast. We have 2
of our own clinics planned for 29 November and 13 December to be held at
Moreton Morrell in the indoor arena. Dawn Emmerson plans to hold a
clinic once a month with Shane in Northamptonshire and Amanda Moore is holding
a clinic in the New Forest area 15 November. It is great that you are
all keeping your horses going through the winter. For details of these
clinics, either go to our
clinics page or
contact us.
29 September 2009
What a month!!! For the
second year in a row Shane Borland and SES Smart
Star are British Reining Year end High Point Open Reining Champions.
They have had a fantastic year consistently scoring well at all the shows.
Although Smart's year started late due to breeding, Shane has prepared her
really well and has competed very consistently from start to finish.
September has been busy, we started with the East Coast
Quarter Horse Circuit Championship Show at Bodiam. Followed by the
British Reining Championships, at Sovereign Quarter Horses and finally the
AQHA-UK Breed Show also at Sovereign Quarter Horses. See our
results page for full
results from all of these shows.
The season has now come to an end in the UK. Our aim
is to now obtain our Riding Establishment Licence to be able to give lessons
on our own horse and to also arrange some clinics through the winter.
Please keep an eye on our clinics page for these dates and venues.
When we were playing polocrosse, it was customary to thank
our horses at the end of the tournaments, they work so hard and without them,
we wouldn't be able to do this. Three cheers for the horses, hip hip
hooray, hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray. May they have a well earned
rest!!!!
13 September 2009
August was quiet with no AQHA or BR Shows. WES
Championships took place at the end of August with Henrietta Campbell and Best
Chex Yet representing BQH.
The beginning of September saw Shane and Vix attending the
East Coast Circuit Championship Show held at Bodiam. Shane finished the
weekend with a fantastic run in the BR Open Reining on SES Smart Star and AQHA
Senior Reining, resulting with the East Coast Circuit Champion 2009 Senior
Reining Award. (ECQHC Results coming soon)
03 August 2009
Shane Borland took part in the CRI
World Equestrian Games and FEI Masters Qualifier on Wednesday 22 July 09,
which took place at The Garden of
England Show, Bodiam, UK, representing South Africa.
Partnering Shane was SES Smart Star, owned by Sheena Parfitt.
Shane and Smart took part in the first ever FEI World Reining
Championships in Manerbio, Italy in 2008.
They have successfully achieved their first qualification
for WEG 2010. This is the start of
the qualification process, he hopes to attend a second CRI in Germany later in
the year.
They also competed in the British Reining Open classes
achieving a second place and a win on the final day.
Shane and SES Smart Star also attended the
Fenland Circuit Show that took place on Saturday 1 August, were they competed
in the British Reining Open coming first once again.
August is a quiet month for shows in the UK, Shane will now prepare for the
East Coast Quarter Horse Circuit Show, the British Reining Championships and
the AQHA-UK Championships, that are all taking place in September.
20 July 2009
A big thank you to Henrietta for updating our Results Page,
I think it was just an excuse for her to brag about her own fantastic results.
15 July 2009
We have been busy showing recently, with Henrietta Campbell
being her usual successful self with both Dewstow Major Tom and Best Chex Yet.
Our next outing is The Garden of England Show starting Wednesday 22 July 09
with the CRI.
Shane has been out and about giving lessons and clinics, he
continues to be very popular as all these clinics are very well supported.
We will be holding a clinic here soon but aware of peoples pockets and the
shows that have been taking place, I have not wanted to organise too much.
Hopefully August we will be able to put something on. Watch this space.
17 June 2009
Wow, what a weekend! Thank you very much to Ilan
Rosenberg for travelling to BQH to shout at us all!!! The weather was
fantastic and the atmosphere and company even better. We held a very
successful clinic with Ilan this weekend attended by a number of different
people, both spectating and taking part. Ilan really put us all through
our paces and dragged the best out of everyone. Thank you to everyone
who supported us and thank you Ilan for coming.

28 May 2009
We hosted some students from the University of Illinois
yesterday. Unfortunately the great British weather was not too kind to
us but Shane was able to give them a small demonstration on Ebby. They
were in the UK touring round to various places having been to Moreton Morrell
before us and going onto Ascot Park Polo Club and various other places after
us, going home on the 2 June. I would like to thank them for their visit
and I wish them luck for their remaining tour.

26 May 2009
We attended the ECQHC Show this weekend at Bodiam.
Shane, Vix, Annalisa and Mary took part in the reining (see results page
soon). Both Mary and Annalisa entered their first Rookie class, both
doing a great job and really enjoying themselves. Well done to you both.
We are holding a clinic on Saturday, the weather forecast is
due to be good and we have a new people booked in to join us. See our
clinics page for details. Spectators are more than welcome.
We are holding a clinic with Ilan Rosenberg on 13 & 14 June.
Ilan held a clinic with us last year in conjunction with Mendip Stud and it
was a great success. We very much look forward to having Ilan and Niki
with us.
07 May 2009
Our show season has kicked off to a great
start. The British Reining Spring Show held at Sovereign Quarter Horses
was a great success for us. See our

Can you believe the first show of the
year starts in a couple of weeks? We will publish the show dates
in due course.
BR held their first UKCC Level 3 Final
Assessment at the weekend. With huge thanks to Jonathon Vine Hall
and his wife for the use of their beautiful guest house and arena.
Pauline Brimson did a fantastic job to organise it all and the
participants were great, very co-operative and very patient. We
didn't know what was expected and everyone really pulled together to
support one another and the assessors, who were just as in the dark.
It was a great achievement. This was a pilot course run by British
Reining, supported by the BEF. Congratulations go to: Mary Larcom,
Pauline Bimson, Lee Rutter, David Deptford, Shane Borland, Jeannie
March, Susie Anderson and Janet Burwood. They have completed the
final assessment, they just need to finish off their portfolios now.
29 November 2008
Some of you have heard that we are due
to move to Newmarket, due to circumstances out of our control, this
venture has now fallen through but we are currently looking for
alternative locations.
18 November 2008
We are holding a clinic on Saturday 13
December 2008 at the Sports Horse Centre, Ryton on Dunsmore, Coventry.
Open to everyone of all levels. This clinic has been supported by
British Reining. If you would like more information, please do not
hesitate to
contact us.
25 October 2008
A first for Borland Quarter Horses, on
Monday 20th, we hosted our first Pony Club for a demonstration.
With thanks to Anna Baxter of Mill House Riding School based in
Leicestershire, she organised for her Pony Club group of kids to come to
us for the day to watch and learn a bit about western riding.
Shane explained all the tack and gear that we use and then demonstrated
his moves on Missie and Chic. As far as I am aware, they enjoyed
themselves, I didn't hear too much complaining so I think it went well!
I would like to thank Anna and Jay for organising the event and we would
certainly welcome any other Pony Club groups for any other Western
demonstrations.
20 October 2008
This season has been a great one.
With special thanks to Paul and Sheena Parfitt for keeping their new
mare with us for Shane to compete SES Smart Star. It was a slow
start while Shane and Smart got to know one another. They attended
the 2 CRI events held at Bodiam this summer where they qualified for the
FEI World Reining Championships in Manerbio, Italy and the FEI World
Reining Masters Finals in Oklahoma City, USA, to represent South Africa.
The WRC took place in mid September, we had fantastic support from a
number of people and companies (see our links page) and we could not
have done it without any of them. The Masters Finals will be
taking place in December.
We returned from Italy only to go
straight onto the British Reining Championships, this was a tough ask
for the little mare and Shane went into the final day of the show
leading the BR Open. Unfortunately, things didn't go to plan on
the night but Shane won the British Reining High Point Championship
2008. This was a great achievement for the two of them in their
first year. Vix and Chic finished their 2008 season on a good
note, achieving 3rd in the BR Green as Grass High Point, John Harman and
Rio taking second in the BR Green as Grass High Point.
From here, we then went straight into
the AQHA UK Breed Show where Shane and Smart had qualified for the AQHA
Open Reining. It was a fantastic end to the year, Shane won the
AQHA UK Open Reining with an amazing score of 73.5. It really did
finish off our year in great style.
Please go to our results page for a
full round up of the years results, although please bear with me while I
get them all on there!
5 October 2008
After some time being away due to not
having the required software to update the site, my husband fell out
with the machine, we are now back on track and have so much to tell you!
Keep watching this space for our news and we now have a results page
where I will try and post everyones results from the season.
18 August 2008
Thank you to everyone who attended our
BR Saddlers Sponsored Green as Grass/Rookie Reining Clinic. The
rain held off just long enough for us to get 2 full days. Shane
almost lost his voice and everyone was worked quite hard but I hope it
was of benefit to all who attended.
I would like to thank British Reining
and the sponsorship from The Worshipful Company of Saddlers, it made it
easier for the clinic to take place as costs to the participants were
kept low.
We would very much like to hold these
clinics again in future and hope that we can get more people involved.

29 July 2008
Shane has qualified to take part in
the World Reining Championships in Manerbio, Italy 13 - 14 September
2008. He qualified this weekend at The Garden of England show on
SES Smart Star, owned by Sheena Parfitt.
Other results from the show will be
posted soon, but it was a great show that gave us all the opportunity to
watch some of the Europeans show us how it is done.
16 July 2008
It has been some time since my last
news posting, where has the time gone. We have attended a number
of shows lately and everyone has been very successful. A results
page will be available soon detailing our successes!
Our next outting is to The Garden of
England Show at Bodiam on Wednesday 23 to Monday 28 July. This
will include 2 CRIs that Shane will be competing in, in order to try and
qualify for the World Reining Championships in Italy and The World
Reining Masters Finals in Oklahoma, USA.
26 May 2008
On 20 and 21 May, The Mendip Stud
organised for Ilan Rosenberg to come to BQH to give a clinic.
There were about 8 of us who took part and we all worked extremely hard,
it was fantastic. I think Annalisa and Jimmy were pushed to their
limits, this was evident when Annalisa eventually turned to Ilan and
said ENOUGH!!!!! It was a great couple of days.
Last weekend was the East Coast
Quarter Horse Circuit Show held at SQH. Shane took SES Smart Star
and Lenas Diamond Rio for the reining on the Friday. It was Shane
and Rio's first outing together but both got on very well in the end!
Shane and SES Smart Star were placed second in the All Ages Reining and
the BR Open and first in the BR Limited and BR Intermediate Open
Classes.
Henrietta and Tommi attended their
first AQHA Show, although I think it was a slow start they finished very
well. Paul and Jane Carley also attended the show with Lil Blip of
Blosser.
Garden of England is taking place this
coming weekend Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June.
13 May 2008
It has been a month since my last
posting. I apologise for this, we have had 2 shows, the WES Area 9
held at SQH and QH2000 also held at SQH. Both shows being very
successful.
We were represented with 9 horses at
QH2000, a great achievement for us and thank you to all our clients and
supporters. Congratulations to John Harman and Lenas Diamond Rio
on taking part in their first reining classes. John and Rio
finished the weekend with a 3rd in the BR Green as Grass, well done
John, onward and upwards!
Our stud work has also now gotten
under way. Checking was collected from last week and his first
mare was Pendle Poppett owned by Ruth O'Reilly. His first baby has
now foaled, out of Reminics Julie, a fantastic looking filly.
14 April 2008
The first British Reining Show of the
year was held last weekend (12 & 13 April 2008) at Sovereign Quarter
Horses in March, Cambridgeshire. Borland Quarter Horses was
extremely well represented, taking 7 horses of varying levels.
Congratulations to Annalisa Wallace for taking part in her first reining
event, it may not have gone to plan but you have to start somewhere!
Jo Wilde and Jays Award also went but did not enter any classes, but Jay
was fantastic. Sons Sweet Chic and Jemma Davies were also there,
again not taking part but Alfie was also fantastic and went extremely
well. Vix and Sons Royal Chic entered the Green As Grass, scoring
67.5 and coming second and the Rookie, unfortunately scoring 0 due to
not being able to count the spins!!! Mary Stephen's Shiney Par T
Girl competed with Shane in the Snaffle Bit Reining, performing a
fantastic pattern but unfortunately scoring 0 through no fault of their
own. Sarah Nock's Skeet N Quik was also shown by Shane in the
Snaffle Bit reining, Skeet also performed really well but also scored 0.
Shane has not had a lot of time with these two 4 year olds and this show
was used to get to know them, it has set a great bench mark for the rest
of the year. Sheena Atkinson's Ses Smart Star was also entered,
Sheena showed her on Saturday, also unfortunately scoring 0, Sheena
can't count either!!! Shane then competed Smart on Sunday in the
Open reining, having not had Smart for long, he experimented a little to
find out where the buttons where, scoring a 68.5 in the Intermediate and
Limited Open, this placed them 3rd in both. They were then given
the opportunity to show again in the final class of the day the Open
Reining, they scored a 71 winning the class. All parties were very
happy with the results of the weekend and it is a great base for the
rest of the year.
Well done to everyone and a big thank
you to British Reining and the Deptfords for a great show.
22 March 2008
We are now taking nominations for
Checking for 2008. This is a fantastic stallion with great
bloodlines and a brilliant temperament. His first crop of foals
will be on the ground this coming season. We look forward to them.
Checking is now AQHA Incentive Fund & German SSP Registered.
Congratulations to Sheena Atkinson
Parfitt on the purchase of her new mare SES Smart Star. A
fantastic mare who will really take Sheena far.
Congratulations to Annalisa Wallace on
the purchase of Missin Silk Socks (Jimmy). This is Annalisa's first horse and we wish
her all the luck for 2008.
Congratulations to John Harman on the
purchase of Lenas Diamond Rio (Rio). A fantastic little paint gelding who was placed
3rd at the European Paint Championships 2007.
Congratulations to Sarah Nock on the
purchase of Skeet N Quik. A lovely looking palamino gelding.
These really are some great horse
rider combinations who are really going to excel this year and keep the
Rookie classes very competitive.
28 February 2008
Shane is getting really booked up for
clinics for 2008 and at the moment we will not be able to arrange any
more away clinics. However, when he is at home, he is very much
available for giving lessons.
06 January 2008
Welcome to 2008, good luck and best
wishes to everyone for the following season.
